The Diversity Services Office (DSO)
One of the Diversity Services Office's core beliefs is that all students can enhance their Ohio State experience with help from strong academic advising; a firm commitment to helping those less fortunate; dedicated career preparation and development opportunities; and a community of like-minded people who provide support and mentoring. This is what DSO stands for and what we strive to accomplish every day.
We believe that the way students seek to engage Ohio State can be as diverse as the students themselves. Our staff of professional academic and career advisors work with students, one-on-one, to develop the kind of relationships that foster student success; encourage academic excellence; and engage the student as an active participant in their own growth, development and education.
DSO keeps students up to date on academic, career, service, and diversity-related news around campus through our weekly email newsletter. If you don't get our newsletter already, please fill out this form and drop it off in 154 Denney Hall to get on our email list.
Diversity Services Office Benefits
-
Our office provides a wide variety of academic services to give students the accurate and timely information they need to succeed. Students can even see their DSO advisor without an appointment during open office hours.
-
Career Development
We have special programs and opportunities specifically designed to encourage and engage students in one of our many internship and career placement opportunities. Through our career and internships workshops, we work with students to help them develop the kinds of skills and experiences essential to achieving a competitive edge. -
Service
Giving back to the community is just one of the many ways students can become active and engaged in the world around them. Students are given opportunities to participate in community service events, both locally and in other major cities. - Community Building
(PASS)
The Program for Advising in Scholarship & Service (PASS) is a selective first-year academic learning community for Arts and Sciences students who have a shared interest in the benefits of diversity. PASS uniquely links you with your academic advisor, faculty, community, and peers in ways that ensure academic success and engagement. PASS offers all the benefits of a small college experience - personalized guidance and support - with the kinds of great opportunities available only at a large university.
