Career Development
"Exploring career options and acquiring experience in your target field(s) will require a considerable amount of your time and energy. Discovering one's "best fit" career options need not be an overwhelming task if you recognize that this is a process that typically spans from the freshman to senior years and can overlap with your academic course work. For instance, doing an internship for academic credit is a great way to test out an occupational field and meet credit-hour requirements for graduation at the same time. You are not alone in the career planning process! You are encouraged to take advantage of the services offered by the Arts and Sciences Career Services Office as well as Career Connection in the Younkin Success Center" - Stephanie Ford, Director, Arts and Sciences Career Services Office.
The Diversity Services Office works closely with the Arts and Sciences Career Services Office to link students to internships, research, graduate and professional schools, and countless other career development opportunities. We work hard to help students develop the kinds of skills and experiences essential to achieving a competitive edge.
Together, these offices introduce students to a wealth of career development skills, including resume and cover letter writing, interview skills, and networking workshops. We have special programs and opportunities specifically designed to engage our students in one of the many internship and career opportunities available to them. ASC Career Services also sponsors various career fairs throughout the year, where students can meet with prospective employers and put their skills to work!
We also provide students with information about other ways to enhance their degree. The importance of opportunities like Study Abroad and undergraduate research cannot be overstated, and our expertise can help make sure your Ohio State experience is the best it can possibly be.
